We proudly install the Aquascape Ecosystem - Demand the best!
For decorative or practical use water features have been part of our landscape since the beginning of recorded history. When travelers plan a trip it is usually in an area where a beach is or water near by - why not have this luxury daily with your own piece of paradise! A Marine Biologist Wallace J. Nichols documented that being close to water inspires positive emotional states including calm, relaxation, creative thought and more restful sleep. Imagine stepping outside of your home into your very own paradise! The soothing sounds of running water and the enchanting sights and sounds of nature. If you are looking for an organic stress relief...look no more! Your piece of paradise will provide you with a relaxing, peaceful, stress relief area. With the addition of Koi fish you will be captured by the beauty of these fish. The kids and adults love to feed the Koi and they will even eat out of your hand! Water features come in all shapes and sizes and is the hottest trend in landscaping across America. In addition, installing a pond will also increase the property value of your home.
Each pond is installed with a biological filtration system, pump & plumbing, 45 mil EFDM liner, underlayment, a berm, rock, gravel, aquatic lights and plants. We want your water feature to blend in with your natural landscape. We suggest that you put the water feature as close to the house as possible. You will want to see it from inside the house/office as well. With the aquatic lights you will be able to enjoy your water feature at any hour. From the summer months of the lilies blooming, dragon flies circling the plants and the birds dropping in for a quick drink. If you keep your water feature going in the winter you will be able to enjoy the ice formations as well. We will begin with an outline of the pond and stream, and then the digging begins. The skimmer, underlayment and liner are set in place. We then will place boulders and rocks on all the various shelves in the pond. Aquatic lights and gravel are added next. Then we are ready to fill the pond! Please keep in mind this is a pond and it will have to go through the natural changes and will turn green on and off for the first year and this is very normal.
ABOUT OUR COMPANY...
Our company started 28 years ago and is a family owned and operated business. We were one of the first Certified Aquascape Contractors in the downstate area. Our Crew regularly attends seminars and training sessions to improve their skill set. Chris Sturdyvin also known as the "Pond Dude" is the owner of Chris' Water Gardens located in the heart of central Illinois. We provide services from the Indiana border to Bloomington, IL and everything in between. Chris' Water Gardens was originally formed in 1984 to perform regular lawn maintenance at that time, most ponds were considered complete with barely any filtration system and were usually green, mosquito havens and not very appealing.
Chris met Greg Whittstock (The Pond Guy) the owner of Aquascape designs in St. Charles, Illinois. Aquascape's system was designed to include a biological filter system that really worked! Aquascape water features are 100% natural, self-balanced ecosystems that are low on maintenance and beautiful year round. The natural water gardening system and the philosophy behind it was to work with mother nature and not against her. In 2000 Chris' Water Gardens was formed and since that time we have installed and/or rebuilt over 400 ponds.
